The victim of this fatal collision has been identified as Michajla Bailey Kostecka (18yrs), a Santa Rosa resident.

Santa Rosa Police report that the driver and the suspect, Rebecca Iris Guillory, 19, has been additionally charged and booked at the Sonoma County Jail for violations:
191.5(a)VC – Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while intoxicated
23153(f) – DUI combined Drugs/Alcohol causing great bodily injury

On January 1, 2017, at approximately 11:00 pm Santa Rosa Police officers were dispatched to the area of Mountain Hawk Drive and Branch Owl Place. regarding a traffic collision involving a single motor vehicle. Officers arrived on scene and located a silver Chevy Cavalier on the west side of Mountain Hawk Drive, just south of Branch Owl Place. The vehicle had collided with a tree and had come to rest on the sidewalk facing north. The vehicle was completely totaled.

As Santa Rosa Police officers arrived on scene several citizens were attempting to help the driver who was conscious but trapped in the vehicle. Officers then located a deceased female in the front passenger seat. Fire personnel were able to extricate the trapped driver and she was transported to a local hospital

The driver of the silver Chevy Cavalier was later identified as Rebecca Iris Guillory, a resident of Santa Rosa. A preliminary investigation revealed there was probable cause to believe that Guillory was driving the Cavalier this evening while impaired by a possible combination of alcohol and drugs. Guillory had been admitted to hospital for minor injuries, however, she was placed under arrest for Felony DUI, causing death or serious bodily injury.

This investigation is ongoing as more information is gathered to determine the all of the specific circumstances surrounding the collision.
