DUNE ACRES | A Massachusetts woman died Sunday after police said she fell from a golf cart operated by a man arrested on a drunken driving charge.
Police said Jennie Welch, 25, of Brighton, Mass., died at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Police said she had suffered a head injury.
Jason Pelton, 27, of San Francisco, was arrested and faces multiple drunken driving charges.
Police were called at 3:55 a.m. Sunday to the intersection of Cypress Lane and West Road in Dune Acres, where emergency workers were treating Welch.
Pelton told police he and Welch and a 26-year-old Chesterton man were heading home from a wedding reception. He told police the three had been drinking at the reception.
Police said Pelton was seated in the center of the cart and was driving and that Welch was seated to his right. ….MORE
