2013-11-14 — The 21-year-old driver accused of killing a 30-year-old woman and injuring two others in what police say was a fatal DUI-related crash early Saturday morning on Highway 29 south of Calistoga pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges Wednesday in Napa County Superior Court.
Bobby Francisco Tovar, also known as Bobby Franchesco Tovar Recinos, of Lower Lake, was driving southbound on Highway 29 in a 2006 Dodge Charger when he crashed into a tree near Tucker Lane, authorities said in court records.
Gabriela Gomez, 30, of St. Helena, a front-seat passenger, was declared dead at the scene, according to the California Highway Patrol. Two others passengers, Olga Rojas, 29, of Napa, and Israel Perez, 32, of St. Helena, suffered moderate and major injuries in the crash reported at about 4 a.m., according to the CHP. Updates on their conditions were not available.
Tovar, who suffered minor injuries, was arrested and booked into the Napa County jail on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended driver’s license, according to the CHP.
