RICHMOND, Calif. —2014-02-21 — A woman was arrested for driving under the influence early Friday morning after a horrific Richmond crash that killed her boyfriend and left two young children in critical condition, according to police.
The accident happened at approximately 1 a.m. on San Pablo Avenue near Stanton Avenue when the suspect slammed the white Buick she was driving into a tree.
According to authorities, the crash killed 39-year-old Harold Mason, Jr. The driver, 36-year-old Chanetta Flanagan and the two young children who were in the car had to be extracted by rescue crews with the “jaws of life.”
Richmond police said Flanagan was “obviously under the influence of alcohol” when officers arrived at the scene. Officers also noted there was evidence of alcohol inside the vehicle.
Police said the two children were Flanagan’s 3-year-old daughter and five-year-old niece. ….MORE
