D.U.I. Arrests Monday, February 17, 2014 – Sunday, February 23, 2014

Impaired drivers are a very real danger to themselves and to others who share the road. With this in mind, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office has launched a multi-faceted campaign of education, awareness and enforcement to battle this threat to public safety in our community. We have elected to publicize the names of those charged with the offense of Driving Under the Influence during the past week.

Lee County Sheriffs Office Traffic Unit is looking for the publics assistance. Investigators have learned that good samaritans stopped and helped the victims of the crash. In addition there may be some additional witnesses to the event. Driver of the 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck has been identified as Remijio Saldana Perez DOB 09/13/68, 953 B Eisenhower Blvd Lehigh Acres. Charges are pending.The occupants of the 2006 Honda SUV have been identified as, (driver) Charles David Bader DOB 10/01/57, 216 Woodingham Pl Venice, front seat passenger Michael Nicholas Katyryniuk DOB 02/18/47, 210 Jim Davis Rd Tellico Plains, TN. Both Bader and Katyryniuk were pronounced deceased at the scene by responding paramedics.

On Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at 11:11 p.m., a 9-1-1 operator with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call about a traffic crash. The incident occurred at the intersection of SR 82 and Columbus Blvd, Lehigh Acres.Deputies responded to the scene.

Due to the nature of the crash, deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit were assigned to continue the investigation.

Preliminary information reveals the driver of the 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling southbound on Columbus Blvd approaching the intersection of SR 82. The 2006 Honda was westbound on SR 82 approaching Columbus Blvd. The Chevrolet pickup struck the Honda in the right rear causing it to spin and overturn in the culvert on the southwest corner of the intersection.

The adult male driver of the Chevrolet pickup was transported to Lee Memorial with non-life threatening injuries.

The adult male driver and the adult male passenger of the Honda were confirmed deceased. TRAFFIC OFFENSE (DUI ALCOHOL OR DRUGS);
