ALBUQUERQUE (2014-03-10) – The victim involved in an alcohol related crash on Interstate 40 has been identified as Albuquerque Aviation Police Officer Robert Dilley.

New Mexico State Police said 52-year-old Dilley was traveling westbound on I-40 when his vehicle was brushed by the vehicle 32-year-old Michelle Rivera was in. Police say Rivera was also traveling westbound on I-40 at a high rate of speed and was weaving in and out of traffic.

The incident caused Dilley to lose control of his vehicle, collide into the center concrete barrier and then strike a light pole. Police said the vehicle ultimately came to a stop on its roof on I-40.

Dilley was transported to UNM Hospital in extreme critical condition.

Rivera was arrested and charged with great bodily harm by vehicle, aggravated DWI and reckless driving.

The incident is still under investigation by New Mexico State Police.
